Wow! Stellar work here.
Elena says, “I get goose bumps thinking about what might happen if we created a space for kids, especially kids in poverty, to think outside the box. They might start questioning the status quo. They might start imagining other possibilities for themselves and our world”
Yes. This work empowers kids of all backgrounds. In fact, it makes me think about what TPRS gurus want us to think that this work is all about language gains and alignment with CCSS or 21 century skills, State standards, ACTFL. All I want to do is have fun.
I am sure that fun is age appropriate for EVERYONE. Could someone make a curriculum doc or map where all roads lead to fun and imagination?
SO COOL!!!!
YAY!!! Elena, Tina mentioned you in an email! I also teach in a super “beaten down” population, and I see these kids rising up every day. I’m feeling a lot of joy so far and we don’t even have an awesome cloud like yours, but we do have a small purple giraffe named Melvin who lives in a box of Lucky Charms in Hannaford’s (local grocery store where lots of kids shop and work).
I like Steven’s idea:
“Could someone make a curriculum doc or map where all roads lead to fun and imagination?”
Thank you, both! I am overwhelmed by how supportive this community is. I feel so lucky to have found this in my second year of teaching.
Elena we’re in the same tprs boat in the sea of CI. 2nd year teacher here!
