CI and the Research (cont.)

Admins don’t actually read the research. They don’t have time. If or when they do read it, they do not really grasp it. How could they? They aren’t language teachers.
Mike found out that the jackpot money ball slam dunk was to stick to the talking point of ACTFLs 90% TL usage. This is ALL we need to stick to with narrow-minded thinkers.
Mentioning research or CI or the names of the SLA gurus falls on deaf ears. The discussion turn to the criticisms of research and the what they have been made to think of as the CI “cult” just wanting to make money and the like. (This has actually become true in our profession, sadly.)
Use the ACTFL talking points, especially the Communication Standard and its supporting document the Three Modes of Communication.
Mike Peto has said:
If you want to criticize me, look at my results, not my methods. If you want to know how I got those results, ask me about my methods….”
