  1. This is wonderful Mindee! It’s very helpful to see the cute pictures and read the stories entirely generated from your students’ drawings and ideas. Love it. I’ve tried it with 1st/2nd/3rd grade somewhat successfully. The students were very engaged, but I had a little trouble managing the energy (and chattiness). I need to keep working at it. Thank you Mindee for sharing.

  2. Thanks, Mindee (and Catharina for connecting all of us)! Mindee, the way you have done these stories in such a simple direct way with 100 % student input is awesome. I intend to explore this step by step guide with my little ones after Thanksgiving. I hope to be able to contribute my successes and/or my learnings along the way soon.

  3. I’m collecting so many great story drawings and one way I’m using them is to share w/the kids via doc. camera and retell the stories with different endings. But I’m amassing a ton of kids’ work. Has anyone found a way to put these to good use after the story is completed? Do you pass them back to take home? Post somewhere? Make a book? Thanks for any ideas.

    1. I type up the class stories, save the best drawings by the class artist, and at the end of the year I put all in plastic sleeves in a 3-ring binder. I make target structure lists with English translations on fun stationery, and put it in the FVR library. These are by far the most popular selections at FVR time!

  4. Jim Tripp originally suggested making a class collection of stories, certainly not all of them from the year but some of the better ones, with the L2 on the left page and the L1 on the right. We include drawings from the year. We then have a nice collection of stories for the kids to read during SSR time in subsequent years.
