Beniko and Steve K this summer told me, I asked them specifically, that we do not need to worry about transparency. Kids need to understand the messages, get swept up in the story. It is hard to do that when we are stopping for the umpteenth time to talk about “du” or “dans” or “vont”. I am finding this to be so liberating. I feel unchained. It is huge for me. This year is the happiest time in a classroom I have ever spent. Thanks to my incredible mentors.
YES! I feel this. The message is not the words.

So we don’t need full transparency of every word. We need to make them understand the message, as Bob Patrick has said. I need to tattoo what jen said there on my forehead.
Similar fence with circling. I remember Claire Ensor saying that if done over and over, it resembles the audio-lingual method.
