What an awesome blog! I am such a LOTR fan — want to start a TPRS smial? 🙂
BTW — My students are really starting to see their own progress this year. It is difficult to slog it out every day, especially when you know that no one cares, but worth every minute…
Thanks again for the video — I felt reinvigorated and refreshed yesterday and especially today, after watching the technique and approach toward the students.
After seeing The Hobbit last week, of course I had to see the trilogy again. Such a strong tale of conviction and faith and courage against overwhelming odds. A true metaphor for what is happening right now not just in our field but in the world. All we need is some mithral and to arm our hearts with love. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. We can do this.
And thanks Leigh Anne for the compliment. I am working on the story for Brrr! now. I think that we need that sense of not judging them and not being stuck in our heads and acting like teachers. We need to let go. Have some fun. It’s hard to describe but I sense in your words here:
…after watching the technique and approach toward the students….
that the approach we take toward the students is just such a big piece of all of this. You know what I mean. It’s not something easily explained. It’s like constantly giving them permission to disarm. It is visible in the story as well.
