Claire has done so much for us lately. We’ve needed the information and she has provided it. I am certain that most of those following the authentic assessment thread here recently have grown a lot in the past three weeks.
I really like the expressions in bold letters below. They turn the tables around on traditional teachers, who, lacking ANY research we can find – and we have looked and asked Krashen point blank about that – still manage to put out a vibe on us in meetings that what they do is true and what we do is not true, when the reverse is what is really happening in terms of research.
When we ask the questions below oto traditional teachers, it’s like a chop block in football – they just won’t be getting up in time to make any tackles on that particular play.
By the way congratulations to the L.A. Rams – they have come back home. For someone around when they originally played in Los Angeles, that is a big deal.
Here is Claire’s gem/jab at traditional teachers for use on anyone who needs it. By the way, this is not mean. It’s just true:
…when you look your more traditional colleagues in the eye after explaining how to assess for real and call them out for their BS assessments, it’s going to be big. You’ll ask them “So what are you doing with your data? How are you using it to modify your instruction? Because I’m using it to find ability-appropriate texts and modify how fast or slow I speak and build a lesson around words I know they know to stay in bounds.”…
