It’s hard to express. A little kid growing up feels stupid in school because he can’t memorize all that stuff like the really fast processors, becomes an adult, tries teaching, tries to accomplish through his brightest students what he couldn’t in school , burns out after 24 miserable years trying to do it in the only way he had been taught, through making everything into a competition.
Then he sees the destruction of competition to learners, stumbles on a way that works for him – TPRS – starts to get really excited about teaching again, but then, as the years go by, becomes increasingly disillusioned by what the “way that works” is changing into, so he tries something brand new – NT – and ends up feeling that he has finally found a way to keep little kids from feeling stupid in their classrooms.
I’m calling that a career!
OK end of this long series of reflections. Maybe a good time to take a break. It’s June. Let’s take a few weeks off and relax. Those who wish may search the archives, search topics in the search bar, or check out the wonderful primers in the hard links at the top of this page.
