Time to Reflect – 9

In my own opinion, TPRS has been in a tailspin for a long time, with the targeting and the circling and all the too-early reading options all being presented as gospel. It was getting very “traditional” and always the new people were told that they had to attend a conference in order to learn how to “do” TPRS.

But there are as many ways to use comprehensible input in a classroom as there are people! Yet, people were being ordered around, as if they couldn’t make up their own minds about what was best for them.

For about five years now I have seen that TPRS was becoming a concretized system with ways to do it and ways not to do it. I can’t believe that simple human communication, the premise of TPRS and founded firmly in hard research, could be made so complicated! Time to reflect and pout on that. Waaaaah!
