I do the same thing (tossing stuff, I mean). When they ask me, when they would get their writing back, I tell them “never” because it’s only for me to know what they do and do not know so I can be a better teacher for them. Haha, if they only knew….
Thought I’d add this idea here, with Look & Discuss, since often I use a Powerpoint slideshow with images (from the kids’ sketches, of Google-searched stuff, anything where I’d like a series of images to be used):
I recently found the delightful feature under the “View” tab called “Slide Sorter”. With that view, you can have several of the slides on screen at once. This has made it possible for me, for example, to show 4, 6, 8, 9, or 12 slides at once and do a new variety of things with those images. After we’ve looked & discussed, we can gamify it by showing in Slide Sorter view & having (for ex) kids smack the picture that matches what is said. There are a lot of nwe possibilities with that view, making prep time to put it together more worthwhile.
What an awesome example of good technology use. Now with that feature of PowerPoint we can do CI stuff we couldn’t have done before.
Another neat tool – if you use technology – is the IPEVO point 2 view USB camera. It is a small ultralight camera that gets hooked up to the laptop. It allows you to project documents to the smart board. Could save time and be quite useful for hands-on demonstrations.
