Dana Miller-Kitch is the Canadian CI teacher who replaced me at the American Embassy School in the fall of 2016 in New Delhi, India. She had trained up over that summer on the Invisibles since she knew that she would inherit kids who were taught using them. This post shows how the team gestures in the Word Chunk Team Game work. I don’t stand them up like this, they just do the gestures from their seated group, but it gives the idea. I also don’t give them second chances to get their gesture right. These two boys (see below) are my weakest kids in that Grade 7 class. In the last month, they’ve started to actually care and they’re making big strides.
In those videos, they were trying to get their WCTG gesture right and were so serious. (We changed teams in Semester 2.) They were so happy when they nailed it the last time.
I decided to start taking pics and videos of these days. It’s AWESOME! These are going to go in to our end-of-year celebration video you described in the Natural Approach to Stories – still pics, videos and slow-mos. I filmed their gestures (messing up and good ones) and their ski ball throws. So many smiles, laughs and good times.
