We have a room, thanks to Grant who is running point for Carol in Minneapolis for iFLT, which is from Tues./July 14th to Fri./July 17th this summer.
Same thing as last year on the War Rooms. Teacher teaches, we give feedback, and the next person gets up and fries, but in a good way, right? Because we all love each other and our egos have been placed just outside the door of the War Room before we came in to do the work.
People have asked why we use the term War Room. It is because we are like generals in a war, planning out our strategy to combat the incredible forces of ignorance in our schools, the energy that wants everything to be measurable, data driven, etc. when we know that there is so much more to real language teaching than that.
I have asked to make sure we have internet access to work with Visual PQA. I’m sure we would like the option this summer to practice that as well as our skills with regular PQA and stories, and whatever other strategies we want to work on.
Grant shares:
Ben,
Attached is a picture of the room I have reserved for you. Currently it has three 8 person tables in it so you can get an idea of scale. It is smaller than the one in Chicago. Potentially a much more intimate setting.
I think it will hold 25 to 30 people without tables very nicely.

Just make sure you stay at the Country Inn and not the Holiday Inn if you plan on being in those evening War Room sessions so you don’t have to travel at midnight back to your regular hotel.

Also, if you plan on working in the regular war room (coaching sessions) in the morning and afternoon (at Tartan High School during the day) don’t forget to get in on those, because only 15 people can work, although others, up to 20 I think Carol said, can just observe.
