We won’t know that they all understood until we teach a class that ends with great enthusiasm expressed by all. It isn’t just a good story that generates such happiness, it’s that they all got it. Like jen said in a comment here once that there is great humor in things like funny names and large yellow boxes and small purple boxes, when they are associated with people. It is the attaching of the boxes to the people, that mix, the creation of strong communal ties between students via lighthearted banter, which all depends on SLOW, that brings the interest.
