Report from the Field – Lynn Ingraham

Dear CI Colleagues,

I did Story Listening with all my classes Monday. Their exit ticket was to tell me something that worked well for them as a learner of the target language (French or Spanish). I only had a few students in all my classes that told me negative feedback. Most were very excited with the novelty of it (of course):

novelty (new, different)
relaxed
could understand more
could hear more (students were not shouting out answers)
liked the faster speed
liked staying in the target language
liked the visuals
liked seeing the words on the board (they did NOT complain about my handwriting!!!)
liked seeing only SOME words, not the WHOLE typed story
liked seeing the words and images on board when they wrote their 5 minute timed write in the target language (this is NOT a Beniko activity)
liked the content (it was a story I got from my French class last week with a Persona Especial Personne Speciale) about a daughter who wanted to go to a pop music concert but her family went to Hawaii instead, then she researched the cost for her and her dad to drive to a future pop concert in Idaho.
