Voces 2

Chris continues:

Ben,

Remember that video I set to you about the newest, most awesome thing in the world of Spanish education?  Remember?  Remember that awesome digital textbook Voces?  If not, I will resend you the email.  If you do remember, keep on reading.  Below is an email I”m forwarding to you from Teacher’s Discovery, the creators of Voces. So now, Teacher’s Discovery is offering 30% commission for “enthusiastic Spanish teachers” to go around and sell this etextbook.  30% commission!  30% commission to go to state conferences and sell it!  30% commission to go around to other Spanish teachers and peddle this shit!!  I have to admit, if it wasn’t for already having swallowed the red pill and discovering Krashen, Blaine Ray, and CI, I would think that this Voces thing is awesome.  All of the grammar, vocabulary, activities, cultural videos, etc. all prepackaged and ready to go.  And it utilizes technology!  Its 21st Century!  Had I swallowed the blue pill and stayed asleep, I would believe that this system that has “hundreds of videos covering every first-year vocabulary and grammar topic, cultural themes of 21 Spanish-speaking countries, recorded interview of real people telling personal stories to give students a glimpse of their real world, games to reinforce grammar and vocabulary, a first-year level comic book style Don Quixote reader and projectable presentations on 37 grammar topics” would be the most amazing thing to ever happen.  Unfortunately, 90-95% of world language teachers haven’t swallowed the red pill, when the army of “enthusiastic Spanish teachers” goes out and starts trying to sell this, the kids are cmpromised.  Oh, did I mention that “The complete online eTextbook and eWorkbook are fully aligned with national standards.”

This is bad.  It was already bad, but recruiting teachers to sell this is really bad.
