If you want to see something truly pathetic, that epitomizes the mentality of so many FL teachers here in the 21st century, look no further. I present to you “Voces”, the newest product that Teacher’s Discovery is peddling to the FL teaching community. Not only is it pathetic, it’s dangerous. It has all the bells and whistles that foreign language teachers are looking for when they go to conferences. It is technology based, so it’s 21st century, right? I happened to go on Teacher’s Discovery’s website today to see if I could find Mark Davies frequency dictionary and right there on their homepage was this video:

Despite how corny the acting is, I think this would appeal to a large percentage of the FL teaching community because it makes their traditional way of teaching grammar and vocabulary look hip, cool and 21st century. It’s extremely pathetic and basically epitomizes what we’re up against. I challenge you to see how far you can make it through that video before either spooning your eyes out or vomiting.
