1 thought on “TPRS vs. Georgia 17”

  1. I guess to make this work, you’d have to care enough about what other classroom teachers have to say about their kids to get yourself to ask them. And have the time to do it right. When I see the d-f list come out for our school, the angry guy in me wants to track down the other teachers to ask them: “What are you doing so that you can’t get your students even remotely interested in your subject, you boring piece of driftwood, you?” I don’t think that’s the kind of communication the Georgians had in mind….

Program goals and content? For the national standard “Connections”, we are supposed to be connecting our languages to other subject areas, and encouraging students to use our languages as a resource to do better in those courses; to do that, again, we’d have to be interacting with other staff, too.

Again, the elements missing for me are time and willpower. Pay me some release time to meet, and I will. Provide a facilitator that will referee the transactions and we might all walk out of the meeting unscathed.
