The Surprise

I vote for this simple little story by Anne as a good candidate to get back into the swing of things. It’s simple, funny, and most importantly, simple. And did I say that it is simple? When I did it in December, Jana gave Vicky a fish wrapped up in a magic carpet, and then, in the second location, which we got to in ten minutes (perhaps a record!), she gave her a thumb. Don’t forget to get your story writer to get all the details so you can present the reading the next day. You may want to refer to my simplified “To Do’ list that I share with visiting teachers so they can follow my steps through a typical lesson. That can be found here:

and this is related:

Here is Anne’s cool and very simple story:

The Surprise

a surprise/surprised

close your eyes!

what the heck is this?

Jana says to Vicki, “I have a surprise for you!”  Vicki says, “Really?  A surprise?  For me?  What is it?”  Jana says, “Close your eyes!”  Vicki closes her eyes and Jana gives her a fishVicki opens her eyes, sees the fish, and asks, “What the heck is this?”  Jana says, It is a fish.”  Vicki says, “This is not a surprise!  I’m not surprised!”

Location #2 is exactly the same with a different surprise.

Location #3 follows the same script, but at the end you can do whatever you want.
