Ben, I am a new subscriber to your site and opening it for the first time and seeing this beautiful, Godly message warms my heart even more to you and your mission. I just left the public school system and was hired to develop a sustainable elementary Spanish program (preK – 5th) for Grapevine Faith Christian School in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. I have been a fan of Blaine Ray for years and have incorporated his story telling and circling into my classroom. I am so excited to have found your site and have already downloaded your Big CI Book. I am hoping to meet with our headmaster and get the CI methodology going with our high school program and add a junior high program as well. I have BIG goals and feel I can do anything with God and I so appreciate you reminding me of that this morning when I opened up your blog. God Bless and I hope that we meet soon!
Thank you for your prayer, and I am very encouraged that there is a God believing language teacher like you!!! I try to do my best every day in the classroom to do God’s will for the students. CI is I think what God is directing me to do. Thank you so very much for teaching us to be a CI teachers. It’s not easy, but is very much worth teaching the CI way!!
Thank you Cathy and welcome to the site. I know that there is a division in our country right now about invoking divine help in this struggle. Some people get offended. I do acknowledge separation of church and state as a constitutional principle. For me it’s not about religion or anything – it’s just a result of being beat down so far over so long that I must turn to the only thing that makes sense – Divine Love. It feels weird to be writing about it here because I never have done more than share a few prayers here in over 14 years on my old blog and this one, which has been around for ten years. Anyway, like I said, it’s about survival and the only way I made it through 40 years was through His help. So I gotta say it. Honestly, how else can we make it through even one day as teachers unless we give it up and realize that we can’t do it alone? I can tell you that every book I ever wrote had His stamp of guidance on it. It’s like that song by Gnarles Barkley about thinking we are in control:

Love this song!
Thank you for the prayer, Ben. Some days, I need to invite God into my room, just to remind me to be loving and caring towards everyone – myself, my students, my colleagues and my administrators.

Amen!
