Tina told me this:
The teacher has to do CI according to what they think is best for them as an individual teaching artist. One person likes targets as they are used in conventional storytelling, the next prefers a more free-wheeling style of CI, like emergent targets using the Invisibles or Story Listening. We all have to follow our own vision. It is like CI is the cloth and we are each cut out of the pattern that fits our body and the occasion we are sewing the garment for. We should be operating from principles, and not from strict guidelines to a “method”. As long as we are providing compelling, comprehensible input in the form of understandable spoken and written messages, then that is all that we need to do. As long as we are cutting our lessons out of the CI cloth, there truly is no wrong way to do this work.
