The work we do consists of so much more than we are given credit for. But YOUR work, your life work, is revolutionary and will save many careers. I understand why you keep going even in retirement….the disservice being done to children trying to learn other languages.
The rest of my classes today were essentially touchdowns as well! The Star system really is a game-changer. I never struggle with figuring out where to go next. I don’t have to worry about trying to drag a story out for 30 minutes. If a story ends up being short (which it should be anyway), I can move on to the next phases of the Star.
The engagement and excitement that I’m seeing, I’ve NEVER seen before, even during “good” TPRS stories. And that’s because those stories were forced, I was tied to the structures that I was trying to teach. Your nontargeted approach using the Star is just perfection!
It’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s creating rapport and relationships with kids, and despite being “nontargeted” we are still eventually using vocabulary that is seen as required in level – it just happens in a different order and within different contexts.
