Our Work is Important. It Brings Hope to Children.

A teacher in our PLC lost a student on Saturday. We cannot bring back that quiet, intelligent girl, but we can get better at this work. We may never know how one little acknowledgement that they are important and belong to a group of people who actually interact in real ways in class, how one little invitation to laugh during school, how one kind look from a teacher instead of feedback that they are not quite good enough and need to work harder, might make a difference in how a child perceives life. Are we really here as teachers of languages to teach a kid a language that requires thousands more hours than we have, or are we here to help children believe that life is worth living?
