Hey Ben –
Hope all is well with you. Exciting news about the new book!
Here’s an email from one of the people who participated in the training I did this fall. I put in a strong pitch to join the blog and it sounds like she did:
Hi Elissa –
I wanted to thank you again. CI has absolutely improved my teaching life! I jumped full bore into it after your workshop and life instantly got so much easier! And fun! I am enrolled in the CI graduate class offered with the Ben Slavic PLC and it has been a fabulous framework within which to explore the CI experience. So, thank you so much for the training — it has made a great impact on my student’s lives!

I thought the PLC members would be interested to know about these training opportunities in Vermont this summer:
Hello blog community!
I wanted to let you know that Express Fluency is hosting Laurie Clarcq and Terry Waltz for some exciting language classes and teacher training this summer in beautiful southern Vermont.
The teacher training involves participating in a language class as a student in the mornings and then debriefing, learning skills, practicing, and getting coaching in the afternoons. (Or, if you are not doing the teacher training and just the language class we are organizing other activities like salsa dancing, Mexican cooking class, an English/Spanish exchange with Spanish speakers working on their English, swimming, hiking, movies in Spanish, etc…)
I’m really excited for these programs. We usually teach 2-day courses which are (of course) amazing and empowering for people, but I can’t wait to see what happens after 23+ hours (more like 35+) of CI over 5 days!
June 27th-July 1st:
Beginner Spanish with Elissa McLean
Intermediate Spanish with Laurie Clarcq
Training and coaching with Laurie and Elissa
August 8th-12th:
Beginner Spanish with Elissa McLean
Beginner Mandarin with Terry Waltz
Special training for Chinese teachers with Terry
Training for teachers of other languages with Elissa
We can help you find affordable lodging in the area. We’re reserved a block of rooms across the street from where the classes are happening. Brattleboro is a small town, but it’s got all the important things: a food co-op, several great restaurants, a movie theatre, art galleries, a river, hiking trails, farmers market, local breweries, coffee shops, independent bookstores… and tons of yoga teachers and massage therapists!

As always, if money is an issue, be in touch and we can arrange some work-study or other alternative plan.
Thanks!
