Another question about quick quizzes:
Does the superstar write the quiz in English? I’m assuming so.
My response is that yes, they write the quiz in English and you just translate it on the spot.
Also, make sure they are yes/no answers. Have the kid who writes the quiz clearly write yes or no in English to the right of the question so it makes it easy for you to make your scantron key. And, of course, tell the kids that the T\F on the scantron is yes and F is no.
Also have the kid write a few extra questions in case a few of theirs don’t make sense, I just draw a line through them and renumber real fast. I always ask for at least 12 questions for a 10 point quiz.
(Treat your superstar quiz writers right. They are invaluable in that you want high quality quizzes. If you run out of time and end up not giving the quiz, apologize and make sure that they know how valued they are. I bring them stuff like doughnuts periodically. Nothing can replace a good quiz writer except maybe a good story writer, because getting the details correct as the story unfolds is a big deal. And, of course, same thing with the artist. Having high quality kids in these three key roles in your class can make your year so much easier!)
