After a long summer of traveling around, Tina and I got a wonderful statement of support from long time PLC member Laura Avila in Maine. I treasure it:
¡MIL GRACIAS! Tina and Ben. The work you are doing with NT instruction is — for me — the way to go. Last year I read Ben’s book “A Natural Approach to Stories” and watched Tina teaching and dove into The Invisibles wondering what results I’d get by the end of the year. It was amazing. Comprehension, engagement, lightness of heart and natural production of language went up and up.
This summer workshop in Maine was “the cherry on top” for me. You are both very generous to have spent your entire summer bringing to us all the nectar of what it is to teach a foreign language “a la Krashen,” trying to reach the unconscious mind.
Seeing you in action clarified for me many questions I still had left after reading the book and watching the videos. You have put together a way to implement CI teaching that will allow me to survive in a very difficult school environment.
Almost at the end of your “tour” around the country, you both still had the love and energy to give and share. It is obvious to me that your motivations had nothing to do with making money, but rather a true spirit of service.
You both have given me a light to hold on to at a time when I was thinking of quitting. You have given me hope and strength to keep trying. Words cannot express my gratitude.
