I’m Liz Hughes Waddick. I teach at Breckenridge Elementary and Upper Blue Elementary schools in Breckenridge, CO. I have been using CI since my first year of teaching in 2005. I went to a Blaine Ray workshop in Chicago during the summer of 2005 with Karen Rowan, Blaine Ray, and Donna Tatum-Johns. After that conference there was no looking back. I went into my first year of teaching with only one thing I was sure of: That I would use TPRS in my classroom. I have since gone to NTPRS or iFLT every summer. This will be the first summer that I’ll miss a conference : (I’m expecting a baby this August, so I’ll be spending my summer and my money on that.)
After two years of stumbling around with TPRS (thanks to the grace of those patient children) I knew that I would never teach any other way. I’d rather go back to waiting tables. My husband and I moved to Breckenridge in my third year of teaching where I lucked out and had Leslie Davison as my mentor teacher in Summit Schools. The move to Colorado was a great one! I was able to observe Ben in his classroom and Leslie in hers. Anyway, I believe CI is the way. There is no one who can convince me differently. I love this PLC. It gives me energy. Thanks to everyone for all of your fabulous input.
