A fourth bio! When it rains it pours. Welcome, Kristen! We want more. Send your bios in!

Hi all,

My name is Kristen Anglemyer and I teach middle and high school Spanish in a very small rural school in Wisconsin. I’ve been teaching for 9 years and always tried to follow the Wisconsin based thematic units idea, but I wasn’t feeling satisfied with how my students used the language so I started researching other ways to teach.  The majority of my upper level students will not continue to take foreign language in college, that is just the reality of where I teach, and I realized I was teaching all of this upper level grammar so that they would do well on the placement exams.  This didn’t make sense.  My students want to able to communicate and understand Spanish, not take an exam and study it further in college.  My beginning students don’t care at all about grammar or what the textbook says.  They also just want to learn the language in a fun way.  I just started using TPRS last year in 3 out of my 5 preps and I got a great response from my students.  I joined this community to just try and absorb all of the awesome information that you all put out there.  I have so much to learn still about this method and I hope to use it in all my preps this upcoming school year.   Thank you Ben for the great site and thanks to all the contributors!
