Intelligence Plus Character

Here is a quote that I like in support of jGR/dGR/mGR:

…intelligence plus character – that is the true goal of education….

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Once we are brave enough to make our instruction more about character/showing up for class as a human being/being a contributor and not just a watcher, then we will see our classrooms get filled up with more and more light. We must learn to challenge the kids with these rubrics. We must not back down to their rudeness, which is a guise for fear, and which we can now invite to finally leave our classrooms. Imagine – students becoming real people, and not just the lucky ones who learned how to do that at home.
