I confronted a parent bully today. It was sweet. I won. He is a diplomat, white, male, etc. and he is so used to people bending over and him getting his way. He is a brutal bully and I held my ground and didn’t even get rattled. It was about his son a native French speaker but with no writing ability in a beginning French class. I won’t even go into it.
I am just finally learning, better late than never, that bullies are all around us, they are often white and male and powerful in the world, and that we need to start confronting them more actively, because they are in large numbers at the administrative level. An admin who doesn’t know the research is a dangerous thing!
This could become a rant, so I’ll drop it, but Kristen’s statement made me think about this topic that has been a lot on my mind lately.
