This year I am also instructional leader. Although this happened by chance and default, I see it as an opportunity to really implement TPRS. We just transitioned to 100% TPRS in MS & HS, became 6-12 and are also putting into place the PLC concept. Lots of change!
I also will be teaching Introduction to German Language & Culture via Virtual High School (not aiming for proficiency there, but the district gets a discount if someone teaches at VHS — I am learning a lot about how to better leverage the virtual world in the classroom).
This summer, I finished my master’s with a certificate in TESOL. So much of what I learned supported TPRS. My final project was a lit review defense of TPRS and a presentation that I plan on giving to beginning teacher programs in CT.
Several people at the conference in San Diego recommended this PLC, so I am giving it a try. I really love talking shop. Sometimes I need support and sometimes I can give it!
