Skip may have uncovered a true gold mine of children’s literature for us, and it may indeed, as he suggests, replace our need to build our own libraries for each other as per:
https://benslavic.com/blog/2012/03/10/fvr-instant-library-program/
The last idea we had was to mail them around to each other as per the above, but could this replace that? Could it replace Krashen’s recent initiative on this front as per:
https://benslavic.com/blog/2012/02/29/bookmooch-com/
I will send this link to him, although he is usually way ahead of us on stuff like this. Indeed, why mail books when our kids can access them online if we don’t have a decent library or even if we do? Although I still like the idea of keeping the PLC’s FVR library program going.
I need some time to explore the site, but let’s get a comment thread going and, through combined effort, we can process the exact value of this to us and come to an understanding of how to use it. Personally, it pretty much blows my mind that we have access to multi-level multi-language books from around the world at the click of a mouse.
Please explore the site, comment on any little glitches or details that might prevent this idea from working in a smooth way in our students’ FVR programs, for Kindergarten Day, etc. We need to know about the practical immediate use of it and that will take some exploring of the site and some discussion.
Skip, thanks for sending the link. Let’s see what we have here:
