Final Exam Graphic, Robert Harrell

Robert sent an excellent final exam format, which first posted in January. You can find the graphic on the posters page as “Final Exam Graphic, Robert Harrell”.

Robert explains:

The paper they will be writing on has six blank boxes on each side. Between each box is an arrow indicating the flow direction. Beneath each box are six lines for writing the text.

To me, this requires higher-level thinking skills without demanding output in the target language. Students have to understand the reading well enough to choose appropriate “essential sentences”. (I don’t tell them what they are.) Then they have to show through their drawings that they understand the sentences. They can also indicate an understanding of connotations and implications and relationships by what they draw.

I am attaching a copy of the actual sheet students will be writing and drawing on. I doubt that you can upload it to the blog, but feel free to put it on your resources page. It did not originate with me, and as far as I know there is no copyright issue.
