Educational Entitlement for the Wealthy

A minor but super important thread to me in the past few weeks here has been the one on the rich wanting to hire their own Latin tutors and keeping instruction like it was in the 18th century. If you are aware of that thread, you may want to read on, as Jody shares an interesting YouTube video with us. Jody explains:

My friend, Ray Vega, who teaches at UVM (University of Vermont), sent me this link. A couple of his music students at UVM made this video “inspired by actual quotes from school personnel, parents, and students from affluent communities in the United States.”

The kids put their own ironic tone spin on it, but the message about educational entitlement for the wealthy is clear: The poor are intrinsically responsible for their economic state, and nothing the rich can do will change that. That’s the way it is, and that’s the way we’re keeping it.
