HI BEN,
FYI I put this on the FLAME list serve just in case.
Skip
I had to share this with a few people–not because they are candidates–but rather because it is exciting to think that somewhere this “odd sort of problem” is being had.
It is because of Diana Noonan’s courage and leadership that we have this problem in DPS. Is it a one time thing that will only happen in one district? I think we know that answer….
Didn’t I read somewhere that the school district of Aspen is hiring elementary French and Spanish teachers to start a FL program with 30mn/day preK and up. Must teach with CI.
Colorado, Colorado!
Yay for Colorado!
Not as good a problem as Ben’s, but at Sierra Middle School in Douglas County (just south of Denver) we have a hard time finding qualified Spanish teachers who use TPRS. (The only reason we don’t have a hard time finding TPRS French teachers is because I’m the only one and I’m not leaving!) Even when we find people who mention TPRS on their paperwork, we find they don’t really use it as a method like we’re looking for; they use a part, such as TPR or CI novels. Another odd/good problem, and it has required us to add an impromptu “commitment to CI” question that we didn’t used to have.
