John Piazza’s comment this morning needs multiple and frequent responses. Yes, we share video, primers, comments, strategies, but we seem to drop the ball when it comes to sharing those annoying documents about how we plan and our objectives and all that junk that administrators want.
To stop that error of omission, I suggest that we set into motion as of today the collecting of any kind of document that administrators need. Most of the primers treat the validity of CI. Those are for when we get attacked. But what we also need is something we can hand in to administrators as they go about the task of making sure all teachers supply them with routine information that they must, in all fairness to them, demand from us. No blame. We all gotta do what we gotta do.
Don’t we need such a collection? I suggest that we have a category for these docs as we collect them – Documents for Administrators. How about it? A group effort? If you have, send it to me NOW at benslavic@yahoo.com. If you need, tell me what exactly you need and I will ask the group for it. This comes under the Don’t Need to Reinvent the Wheel heading. If we all share we reduce our work load. And let’s get Piazza off the hook he’s on by Friday. Come on! He didn’t become a Latin/Classics scholar and write a book called The Essential Marcus Aurelius in order to be hassled by some administrator over whether he handed in his Scope and Sequence or not.
(At least we do have a Scope and Sequence category, along with nifty primers on that topic from Robert Harrell and Nathaniel Hardt, so that’s a start!)
