We are not deliverers-of-instructional-language-services. Teachers who mistakenly think that their job is to deliver language services – well-built and well-planned lessons that divide the language into little pieces all nicely wrapped up in a bow – are missing the point about how languages are acquired. Like the three white guys in the image below, they don’t know the research and they don’t respect the Communication Standard. When we teach the language as an integrated whole, everything changes for us.
