Big CI Book – A Note to Department Heads

I’ll put this and the article on the new book up here as sticky articles for those not reading every day over the summer and take it down later. I appreciate all the nice comments. Those who read here all the time know what writing that book entailed – going into every single post here over the past two years at least and mining out the gold and then organizing it in a way that would be clear to new people and experienced people alike. So I take every little compliment in a big way.
One thing to add to the other article on this book:
A note to department heads:
Hard copies of The Big CI Book are needed in growing CI departments. If it’s an electronic copy your team members can say in those meetings that they read it but didn’t. If it’s in front of them at a meeting they need to have read the material to be accountable to you. Thus the group can together progress toward the eventual goal of a unified and clearly defined CI department sharing the same vision.
So, purchase hard copies of The Big CI Book IF you want to discuss, practice and adopt some of the 27 CI STRATEGIES that are at the core of this book. Those strategies are new and vibrant and alive, especially Strategy #22, vPQA, a hybrid new form of PQA that I consider the biggest breakthrough in comprehension based instruction since jGR/ISR.
The strategies and skills offered in The Big CI Book will provide your team with a concrete way to move to a unified CI practice within your building. Most importantly, they offer you ideas to talk about at meetings that might actually make their way into your department’s classrooms.
