Word Chunk Team Game (WCTG)

I haven’t shared the WCTG in a long time with teachers since it is a Book 2 thing and most teachers are still trying to absorb the gems in Book 1. But I have to say that, after doing a coaching session on it today, I had forgotten how truly magnificent it is for teachers who want to see the instructional minutes grow wings and fly by in a flurry of non-stop fun. (I guess that includes all of us!). I’m just saying that when you get to the Book 2 training and we learn that fifth Extension activity, hold on to your hats. It’s a true winner and gobbler-up-of-instructional-minutes! Just what the doctor ordered as we move into our “favorite” part of the academic year, right? Actually what I’ve done is add it to a larger Word Association activity concept that has three parts to it: 1) (Word Wall Associations (five words at a time); (2) Eyes Closed; (3) WCTG. At some point you all need to get this activity into your repertoire – it still blows me away after 20 years of doing it and I need to use it more often.

I may edit the Zoom recording of the class I did in the T/Th coaching session today and put it on my YouTube channel but not sure yet.
