The kids hand in their individually created drawings of their Invisibles, which is done after the first few weeks after we start the year with Card Talk and OWI, at least some of us.
We only accept the individually created drawings for consideration into the story if they are (1) big and bright and not stick figures (they must know how seriously we take our art culture first), (2) have mojo and personality, and (3) the back page has the following things listed on there:
name
job
likes/dislikes
fear
problem
secret
Example of a brown box with a look of confusion and sadness on its face:
Name: SeƱor Caja
Job: Holding things
Likes/Dislikes: Roomy closets/scissors, dogs, water
Fear: He is afraid he will be thrown away or recycled because nobody needs him.
Problem: He is forgotten. Nobody uses him. He is empty.
Secret: Dreams of being used to make an art project
