Tina sent me the link below. It contains the core of my work of my life. When I entered the profession, there was none of this attitude toward being alive in the FL classroom. Everybody was dead, stuck in the left analytical hemisphere of their brains. They were literally half wits, everyone in the classroom, their hearts paralyzed, living in tombs in dark and sad school buildings, hoping to see/feel something real but never being able to because of the vice grip that has defined FL education for far too many decades. With what we are doing now, as long as we revamp and fix the areas of:
- targets (in my opinion we have strayed on that topic), and
- lots of the TPRS gospel that, if it didn’t bring the big change in 20 years, needs to be re-visited, and
- the cult of the expert trainer in TPRS (there is only us), and
- the deep, deep and very deep changes that need to be made in assessment, for which we need Claire Walter’s help.
we can make this sublime message come true for kids in our classrooms. What say you? Are a million kids’ self-concepts as language learners worth our going in and suffering like we do to bring them messages like this? Oui ou non?
