Here is the link to Paul Kirschling’s version of jGR (published earlier here this week):

I sent Paul a note to congratulate him on it because, if you know Paul, his dry wit and style come through in it and it is a nice instrument. I may consider using the numbers he used as well.
He responded to me with a note and then included a copy of a self-evaluation (we have three now) that he made up for his kids at TJHS and that he was able to fit three of on one paper (but I could only fit below in one form bc of formatting issues):
I was able to fit three on a page. I plan to hand them out when we do CI.
What they know now is the spectrum. Of course there is some fluctuation between the grades – an A+ kids who blurts out in English now and then.
Ideally you’d throw that rubric up for a minute and do a quick review and then they have it with them throughout the class.
But I can say that immediately after we looked it over together I had way more full sentences coming out.
I don’t have a poster up yet.
I think that its power resides in being relatively simple:
1) Are you always wanting to understand/learn? Yes or no. 2) Are you Using only French (no English)? Yes or no. 3) Are you adding fun? Yes or no.
I think it comes down to those three things – to what degree – all in or not at all? Where on the spectrum do they fall?
