Obviously when we do dictée we tell the kids the words for comma, period, question mark, quotes, etc., but I have started doing a cool thing that helps the kids become more aware of those pesky accent marks in French. If a sentence is:
Sa mère crie…
it often happens that the student “kind of knows” that there is an accent somewhere over the word mother, but isn’t sure “which way it goes”. So I just tell them. I say:
Sa mère (accent grave)…
They appreciate it.
(Dictée is the third part of my fake class routine of FVR, Movie Reading, and Dictée. It’s working well. The kids are learning a lot in these fake classes. Here’s the link: https://benslavic.com/blog/2012/03/16/fake-classes/)
