Write the Article – 3

Who writes? It should be the ones who want to write, because they feel so moved. That is why I keep writing. That is why Greg and other PLC members are writing and sharing and presenting, It’s time for that now. The strong pushback we have experienced over the past 25 years has really almost dried up and blown away.

Interest in CI is up! There isn’t the charged, sometimes angry pushback anymore. It seems to have melted into a kind of acceptance by those who still do grammar. Bless their hearts. They hear the drumbeat but can’t see the parade. At least hearing the drum is the start of their own change to properly align their instruction with the research.

ACTFL, in particular, is looking around with really wide eyes because in their ears the drumbeat is deafening. But they, too, can’t see the parade. They have these really small textbooks around their eyes that are acting like blinders. Bless their hearts too.

Traditional teachers are even embracing CI terminology in promoting their departments, without really doing CI. I will provide a striking example of that odd phenomemon at a later date, once one of us gets a job.

And below is a link to an article that our Alisa wrote recently for a Jewish Day School magazine. I think it’s a great article, just like everything Alisa touches is great. It’s exactly this kind of article that will be part of the slow chipping away at the old order, and the change, although slow, will one day bear fruit.
