Totally agree about Wade teaching Cherokee. It was one of the highlights of a really great week. I was going to go to sleep at like 11pm that night, but after Cherokee which finished around midnight I was not tired in the least. It was enlivening! Wow.
In French, we say “La Belle Fatigue.”
It is the best kind of tired there is.
La Belle Fatigue–love it and totally agree. I felt mentally energized after that week. I’ve learned my body has its limits so it will be important for me to find a balance with what my mind wants me to do.
Good to find that balance and listen to our bodies’ limits. Now at least our relationship with our jobs isn’t one of darkness and despair. We have hope. We’re not doing the same thing every day. Each class is alive and interesting and new, even if the structures are the same. But before we lived in a kind of stupor that had little to do with actual language gains in our kids. And like you Emeka we spend our time off thinking creatively, and that means growth and hope. I am starting my 38th year in a classroom and never have I had this much hope and confidence.
