I need to take a break for real this time. I tried in early June but the momentum from the great work/innovation being done in our classrooms from last year’s discussion and our own inner work has carried us on. But my mental fatigue now is considerable so I personally am going for some down time right now.
And think about this sentence:
It’s late June….
What are we doing? When are we going to rest if not now? Keep commenting, no problem. I will read and probably comment as well. But as an exercise in mental health and self care, let’s honestly try to go into a real down time between now and iFLT (July 14-17). We work too hard. Yes, it’s work born of deep passion and interest, which is real work and how lucky we are to have it, but all the same it’s work.
New people: there are seemingly endless articles to read here so just hit the archive list or click on one of the categories to find out more about the seemingly quiet but soon to be not-so-quiet way of teaching that is going to change everything we do in language classrooms in our country.
(If you have sent me an article for publication in the past two months, I can only apologize that it still languishes in the queue. I will get them published when I can, when I feel it is right. It’s y’all’s fault. You are too creative, too intelligent, too impatient for change and far too innovative than I can keep up with here. I’ll keep trying, but you are a human tsunami. I guess that’s why they say that people should be careful about what they pray for. They might get it!)
And please also read and give more feedback to Jeff on the idea of badges. He needs our feedback and the idea is too important for the future for us to not give it our attention, while we are resting, of course, right?
