Thanks Bob and Ben, for the Einstein quote. I can definitely relate because when I was a kid I wanted to take piano lessons to the point that I used my paper route earnings to buy my first piano. One of my favorite things was to simply play through the hymnal. Without consciously trying, I 1) became an excellent sight reader and 2) learned a huge number of hymns. As organist for my church, I have found this a great blessing, because I rarely meet a hymn I don’t know.
I didn’t need any convincing, of course, but it’s nice to have someone with Einstein’s reputation agree.
