Language is processed unconsciously. As we hear words thousands of times their meanings move richly and deeply into the deeper mind and a wonderful dance of language creation occurs.
The creation of a new language system can only occur in the unconscious mind. Children learn a language because they wants to know what it means – it has nothing to do with thinking. The learner’s focus is rooted in the unconscious mind which, without their thinking about it, processes the sounds into meaning.
The language is the unnoticed vehicle for conscious understanding of meaning to occur. Why, then, would a language teacher ever focus on the language? It would short circuit the process because in studying the language with the analytical, conscious mind, the mind is not free to focus on the meaning which the unconscious mind, if only it were allowed, deciphers the sounds automatically for real understanding to occur. In time, without the learner being aware of it, speech and writing output then happen as if by magic.
Another way to say that is when so many new and attractive words in the form of reading and listening to stories have formed a rich bed of language in the deeper mind, they are organized into speech and writing.
But this only happens when it is time, not when the district authorities say it should happen. And it always takes far longer than those chumps realize.
