There is a thread on MoreTPRS that may or may not be helpful or that you may or may not have already seen…
I just searched “travel companies” but you could try this link if you are a member of More…

Hi Jim!
Our school has had a long-standing, fantastic relationship with Prometour (out of Montreal) because of the wonderful experiences we have had with them. If we didn’t, I would probably look at A La Carte. I have traveled with NETC and EF in the past. Larger companies like these two will offer lower cost (which can make the difference between having a trip and not having a trip) BUT I’ve never had the quality of hotels, locations, tours with the larger companies that I have had with Prometour. Either way…..hope you get a great signup!!!!!!
with love,
Laurie
Jim: I have traveled like Laurie with NETC and EF – out of the way hotels and bad meals. Have had a good experience with ACIS and am using them again for spring 2014.

Hi Jim!
I met this wonderful man at NTPRS last summer in Las Vegas. He had a booth at the conference and does trips abroad. He’ll be at NTPRS again this year, would you happen to go. Him and I worked all year on a trip to France for this past Spring Break, and for all kinds of different reasons not related to him or his company we had to cancel the trip. He is wonderful to work with, super accommodating and creates “off the beaten path” kind of trips, customizing them to your need. You can’t get that with big companies. The trip we had put together would have taken us to wonderful places doing amazing things but alas it wasn’t meant to be this year.
Furthermore , he used to be a TPRS teacher working with Susie Gross in the same school.
Carol Sutton, Michel Miller and other CI teachers in the TPRS community have used him and highly recommend him.
Anyway it wouldn’t hurt to call him. Here is his info:

Good luck with this!
I vouch for Rene. He’s real.
He sings well too… Right? ๐
I just checked his website, and it’s A La Carte that Laurie mentions above. They have a lot of destinations, and they’re beginning to offer trips to Mexico and to China. This is good to hear because I have a class asking about taking a trip to China after 8th grade.
Jim, it depends how many kids you want to take on your trip. I recently booked a trip for the summer of 2014 with “Students love Travel” (Germany and Austria in the summer). They only take small groups (max. of 15 students) and the tour director (Rob Delorie) will tailor the trip to your exact needs/wants/wishes……. I have yet to take the trip with him but I already have a really good feeling about it just from the interactions I have had with him so far. MB in Maine has some experience with him as well. Actually, she alleviated some of my concerns when I first started thinking about doing this (as this will be my first time taking kids on a trip). From what I understand, one of her colleagues has worked with them before and had a wonderful experience.
Ben,
I wonder about making this a category… ? It seems like there is some great information here for future reference when considering foreign travel.
Thank you all very much for all that. Keep it coming if there’s more. But based on those experiences working with the bigger and the smaller, it seems the smaller will lead to better things. I’ll let you know what I decide if I remember.
I’ve traveled with Interact twice and had good experiences both times. They are very helpful with any questions that you may have. I had never traveled with students before and kept calling them with questions and they were always very kind and helpful, even though I’m sure some of my questions were kind of dumb. ๐ I also appreciate the fact that they are a smaller, more local company and they don’t constantly call me to push me into booking a trip like some of the larger companies do.
I was supposed to go on a trip with Explorica a few years back and they canceled the trip on me because not enough other people signed up(I teach at a very small rural school so I don’t ever have enough kids for our own tour). I had some very upset parents and students.
Hope this helps!
Kristen
Very much so Kristen… Thank you!
