Today as we start to roll with Circling with Balls, I really got into chanting. It just felt right because the energy in the school on the fifth day of students dipped a bit as one might expect after the first few days of excitement.
When I feel the energy dip, I sing or chant. A lot. It is a good response to the situation. I don’t care what they think of me. I just get into it and most of the time it flies. If it doesn’t fly and I look like an idiot at least wer’e not conjugating verbs. And the thing is, I am teaching them to take risks in my class by doing so myself.
Today I hired two more people to fill two new jobs. If you remember so far we have the mais bleater and the quiz writer and now we have the vocabulary list maker (new this year) and the ou/where person. I won’t describe the où/where person here but the vocabulary person is there to write down every single word that is new that I present to the class via Point and Pause.
Now I will have a list of everything I taught in each class. Having it – just what we need, another list – won’t really make much of a difference in what the kids acquire and it won’t change my free form style of doing CI, but, in this time of documenting everything we do, who knows when it might come in handy.
