Today I was timing some PQA (I ask the class for ten and fifteen minute bursts of not a single word of English) and my timer person put it on an iPad and faced the screen toward me on his desk. It was so cool to be able to just look at the time left in the focused PQA session – minutes and seconds were displayed in a big red circle and filled the screen. You may want to have your timer kid do that. It helps squash the English when you have a specific goal to work toward.
