And those traditional teachers legitimately believe that their way “works”. “We’ve always done it this way and it works”, “we’ve always had success with this way”, “we’ve never had any issues before” (before you came around and stirred the pot). That’s what they say. It’s been said to me, minus the part in parenthesis but that part’s insinuated.
Cue state or national average of students who’ve completed 4 years of a language, three years, and so on. The numbers are sad and elitist if I remember correctly. And there’s the stinging reminder from adults who “took 2 years of [insert language] and can only say hello and please and maybe bathroom”. I don’t think they’ll be saying that in Denver in about 30 years.
OT – hell yes to iFLT and NTPRS being in the Midwest next year, if that’s the case. Chicago and Denver?
iFLT is in Denver and NTPRS is in Chicago
We missed you this summer,Jim. Just heard from Cindy Hitz. Her district posted a Spanish job stating teacher must be willing to embrace TPRS methodology. Gotta love it. Little by little.
Emmmmm….Where is Cindy Hitz’s district?
Please say SoCal…please say SoCal…
Cindy is in PA, I believe. sorry!
And David and I both know what a lovely state it is:)
Thanks Carol, I chose to miss out this year, but I really value the big conferences and plan to see you all next year.
“must be willing to embrace TPRS methodology”… wow, nice.
I just emailed Cynthia Hitz — her district is in Palmyra, PA. She said that the posting deadline is this Monday. Anyone interested in applying needs to go to PAEducator ASAP to apply online. The school buildings are closed on Fridays but will be available Monday morning. She sent me more info. If anyone wants it, email me privately and I will forward it on to you. mbt719@yahoo.com
